TCP3

Designing Connectivity
The Elatec RFID TCP3 is a networked access control device that enables secure RFID reader communication over Ethernet. KEK Design supported its development from initial concept sketches to final mechanical engineering, starting with visual explorations of form and function. Through iterative refinement, KEK helped define a compact, modern enclosure aligned with Elatec’s brand. The team then delivered a production-ready design, addressing usability, manufacturability, and technical integration

Color, Clarity, Consistancy
Exploring color variations for the TCP3 enclosure allowed KEK Design and Elatec to evaluate how different finishes could enhance visibility, brand recognition, and integration into diverse environments. In parallel, KEK developed enclosure graphics and branding elements that adhered closely to Elatec’s visual identity guidelines, creating a cohesive and professional look that reinforces brand consistency across the product line.

Engineered for Efficiency
KEK Design led the mechanical engineering of the Elatec TCP3 enclosure with a focus on efficient, cost-effective solutions for high-volume production. The team designed simple, robust plastic parts optimized for injection molding, reducing complexity and minimizing tooling costs. By consolidating components, they also achieved part reduction to lower overall manufacturing expenses. A key innovation was the development of a custom venting system that allows heat to dissipate effectively while preventing dust, debris, and foreign objects from entering the enclosure—ensuring both performance and durability.
